Will you be in the No Friends Left (NFL) Club?

By Marc Abbink

Will MLM/Network Marketing destroy your social environment? Often we're
told when first entering the MLM arena, is to approach your "Warm" market.
Meaning of course your family, friends, business associates or anyone else
you might know of off hand. While this may seem at first to be a good idea
and that most of your friends would be receptive to whatever you have to
offer, this is rarely the case. Soon enough, your calls will go unanswered
and your friends will be hesitant to talk to you.

In Multi-level marketing it's all about the sale. If you don't sell product
than you don't make money. It's that simple. On the other hand, can you
afford to lose your friends? Every time they see you walking towards them,
will they say "Oh no.... Not another sales pitch"! Often these companies
will ask you to make a list of all your friends, family and acquaintances
and then you're supposed to contact each and every one of them to present
you product or service. For most people this can be a very uncomfortable
process and honestly can dissolve many relationships or friendships. Most
companies even offer a special script to use on your friends and family.
Even though in reality, you might be doing them a favor by offering them an
opportunity to start a business and earn a residual income, in most cases
this fact is overlooked. Your friends don't look at it this way.

When choosing a company to work with or be an affiliate of, this might be an
important factor to consider. You can make money with MLM marketing but at
what cost and will it be worth it. Too often, your family and friends end
up resenting you. They think you're crazy for doing this and it's not easy
finding friends that will endure all the parties and presentations. That's
why the name of this article mentions the NFL club. (No Friends Left)

There are a few people that don't have a problem with this and if you're one
of that select few, all I have to say is "God Bless You". But for the rest
of us out there, it's hard to approach friends and neighbors on a regular
basis. If I think about it, it really shouldn't be but I think in modern
society we've sort of lost touch with each other. Everything nowadays is
done by cell phone, by email, or even by Text Messaging. We've sort of
built a wall around ourselves in order to maintain out privacy. We've lost a
lot of that Personal contact that I feel is so important.

There are companies out there that provide phenomenal services or products
that don't necessarily require you to contact your "Warm" list. If you do
your homework you can find them. One of the more modern ways to market a
product or service is through what is referred to as Affiliate Marketing.
Companies pay you to market their URL or affiliate links and then you get
paid a commission. This is one of the advantages of working with a company
on the Internet. You'll be able to contact a large number of people without
having that added pressure of confrontation.

As with any Home Based venture these are some of the questions you need to
ask yourself. Not everyone is suited for every opportunity out there. Be
honest with yourself and ask yourself what type of marketing or approach
will be best suited for me. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect
for the industry and I definitely think I've grown as a person from it. I
just wanted to provide some "Food for Thought" to anyone making the choice
of what Home Based Business is best suited for them.
